Compliance Evidence
Free of hazardous substances (lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBB, PBDE) per EU Directive 2011/65/EU. Safe for commercial use in the EU.
Evidence: RoHS compliant – XRF test report per IEC 62321 (2011/65/EU + (EU) 2015/863), result "COMPLIES".
The evidence listed applies to the filament or raw material per manufacturer documentation. Regulatory clearance of the printed final product – particularly for food contact, medical devices, electrical applications or UL-relevant parts – is not automatically included and must be evaluated on a project-specific basis. Technical machine assignment is handled internally.

Material profile
PPS (polyphenylene sulfide) is a semi-crystalline high-performance polymer with exceptional chemical, heat and moisture resistance. Reinforced with short carbon fibers, PPS-CF is the specialty material for aggressive environments: it stays dimensionally stable close to its melting point, absorbs virtually no water and withstands media that attack other plastics.

In the Z direction tensile strength drops to 24 MPa (~28 % of the X-Y value) – PPS-CF is strongly anisotropic as printed. Orient parts so the main load lies in the X-Y plane.
Chemical and flame behaviour
Per the manufacturer data sheet, PPS-CF is resistant to acids, alkalis, organic solvents as well as oil and grease, and is insoluble in water. The material is described as self-extinguishing / flame-retardant.
Note on flame retardancy: the manufacturer data sheet states no tested UL94 class and no EN 13501 Euroclass. For flame-critical applications requiring a class certificate (e.g. UL94 V-0), we clarify a suitable certified material on a project basis.
When is PPS-CF the right choice?
PPS-CF is the choice when chemical/fuel contact, continuous temperatures of 200–250 °C, or moisture/wet conditions with high dimensional accuracy come together. If it is primarily about maximum mechanical strength and stiffness without chemical/heat demands, PPA-CF is the stronger and easier-to-process material.
Processing
PPS-CF is demanding: nozzle temperature 310–340 °C, a heated chamber and a hardened or tungsten-carbide nozzle are mandatory. Pre-drying (100–140 °C, 8–12 h) and annealing significantly increase crystallinity, heat deflection and Z strength. We produce PPS-CF exclusively on an enclosed high-temperature print system and set parameters project-specifically.
